About Omega-6 Total
Total omega-6 measures the proportion of all omega-6 fatty acids in red blood cell membranes. While omega-6 fats are essential for cell structure and inflammatory signalling, the modern Western diet provides far too much omega-6 (from seed and vegetable oils) relative to omega-3, driving a pro-inflammatory state. The goal is not to minimise omega-6 but to reduce the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio by increasing omega-3 intake through oily fish, seafood, or fish oil supplementation.
