About Appearance (Urine)
Urine appearance describes the visual clarity of a urine sample and is reported as clear, slightly hazy, hazy, turbid, or cloudy. Clear urine is normal; cloudiness typically indicates the presence of white blood cells (infection), red blood cells (bleeding), bacteria, mucus, crystals, or sediment. While cloudiness alone is not diagnostic, it directs the laboratory to scrutinise the microscopy more carefully and often accompanies a positive leukocyte esterase or nitrite on dipstick.
